- SBS does not stipulate a specific ‘theme’ for its annual congress, besides the more permanent descriptive and objective theme of searching the scriptures
- Papers/presentations revolve around the 12 congress learning sessions (CLS) defined on the form.
- Themes may be designated for some general conf. meetings, so as to facilitate discussions and engagements at the broadest possible level by participants.
- Central program sessions (CPS) may have a more focused research and discussions, and ensure some continuity between their conf. meetings.
- Members are allowed to focus on other aspects of scripture study, outside of the designated themes
